Jitter measurements on clock signals with slow rise times are difficult due to uncertainties in the threshold crossing. Some of today's serial data standards (e.g. PCI Express® Gen2 system test) require compliance testing that use the actual clock as opposed to the recovered clock. To accurately represent the signal's timing information, a Low Noise Edge Shaper is required. The SDA-LNES is a dual input differential amplifier that decreases the rise time of the signal while adding minimal additional noise or jitter to the signal. This is achieved without overdriving the input of the oscilloscope. The result is a more accurate jitter measurement. The SDA-LNES can take a single ended or differential signal of up to 5 ns rise time, and outputs a signal with edges < 100 ps rise/fall time with minimal additional jitter (< 1 ps rms). Compatible with all oscilloscopes with ProLink Input and firmware version with 5.2.x.x or higher.
